Precious Leathers, also called Exotic Leathers, such as Crocodile, Ostrich, Python, Sharkskin, are in great demand by the big luxury groups for fashion garnments, accessories, high level furniture and in the car industry. The two fashion fairs held in Paris and Milan exclusively for the leather and fur sector, Le Cuir à Paris and Lineapelle, are a very important B to B event for the professionals in the fashion industry, accessory designers, manufacturers.
The biannual event is held in the months of February for Summer trends and September for the Winter collections. Its dates are closely related to the purchasing and supply schedules of the industry. The Lineapple, which is held at the Milan exhibition centre has participation from nearly 1100 companies from over 40 Countries. Targeted at the premium market, the fairs attract many international exhibitors. The exhibitions this September offered such niche events as Trend Selection New York, Trend Selection London, Anteprima in Milan, Tokyo Leather Fair and Lineapelle Asia in Canton.
The latest trends followed by designers is to mix the best precious leathers in a kind of metissage on the bag itself creating a unique piece. Ostrich and croc or python go together well providing a special effect and the most refined luxury touch.
