The intensity of the Indian summer is in peak form. At such a time, the bar Chidya Ghar at Roseate House, Aerocity, has introduced a special menu of ‘Summer Cocktails’, concocted using natural flavors of fruits and spices. The effort is to source the seasonal ingredients.
The USP of Chidya Ghar is that it is the one-of-a-kind ‘old school’ bar room. Deepak Rawat, Director of Food & Beverage at Roseate Hotels & Resorts has concocted the cocktails with Martini, gin and tonic. In reply to our query about his inspiration for this summer cocktail menu, he said, “Since Delhi summers are extreme, with the mercury soaring to 48 degree in the months of May and June, I devised a few Summer cocktail recipes to beat the heat. The idea was to make something quick, full of water, fresh and most importantly that which is not packed with commercial juices and syrups. For Summer cocktails, I selectively chose refreshing and soothing ingredients such as cucumber, mandarin, bitter orange peel, herbals teas and tonic. This ingredient mix was chosen keeping in mind their soothing effect during summer months and the ability to diminish internal heat.”
Some of the cocktails on the menu have interesting names, such as NRI sours (Bourbon, walnut, home-made orange bitter), a gin and tonic called J&K (gin with rosemary and cucumber), Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and Head or Tail ( green apple martini with Lime and agave).
The menu will be available until September 2018.
