Champagne from a vending machine is not exactly anyone’s idea of elegance; especially since Champagne has, so strategically positioned itself as that ‘special moment’ bubbly that is a staple at all celebrations. Moët & Chandon tried to bridge the gap between style and convenience, and launched the world’s first champagne vending machine, Moët Mini-Matic, back in 2013. It has only just arrived in India this December 2018, just before the Christmas and New Year party season. With the Moët Mini-matic, one can pop chilled mini champagne bottles at the press of a button.
The Moët Mini-Matic is unlike the regular soda vending machines that rattle and shake. It requires a special Moët token, available on purchase. Each glistening gold vending machine has 350 Moët & Chandon 200ml mini bottles, offering a choice of Moët & Chandon Impérial or Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial. The expertly engineered dispenser delivers its bubbly with a golden robotic arm carefully lowering the bottle and placing it into a small window at the bottom of the device. As a result, no shaking occurs in the delivery, hence no surprise champagne bursts upon opening. As a finishing touch, they receive a shining golden sipper that turns the miniature bottle into a chic champagne flute. And voilà! The #moetmoment is now in their hands.
Moët Mini-matic made its first appearance at London’s iconic department store Selfridges during the holiday season. Since then, the Moët Mini-matic has been popping up in the most stylish spots including film festival after-parties, luxury shopping destinations, benefit gala and sporting events.
