Ottavio Missoni, who founded the Italian fashion house of Missoni with his wife Rosita in 1953, passed away in his home in Sumirago at the ripe old age of 92. He had recently been discharged from a hospital where he was being treated for a respiratory problem.

However, in January this year, the family suffered a blow when their son Vittorio Missoni, the oldest of their children and company CEO disappeared while flying a small plane. He was on vacation and flying to a Venezuelan island along with his wife and four others. They were never found.
