tanira-sethiTextile designer Tanira Sethi launched a range of pure woven, limited edition hand painted and the first ever fine cashmere lace saree, under her label ‘Taani’ by Tanira Sethi, at the Patine store in DLF Emporio, New Delhi. The opening showcase and previews were held over the weekend of 14th and 15th January, 2017.

The ‘Taani’ by Tanira Sethi collection is the world’s First ever Cashmere Lace saree incorporating fine cashmere Leaver’s lace fabric conceptualized by Ezma Fine Cashmere and woven by Beauvillian Davoine France. The palette ranges from soothing indigo blues, pleasing charcoals, muddy browns, ecru, with accents of reds and maroons used as effective highlighters. The collection uses 100 per cent woven cashmere wool, developed in various weaving centers across India. The entire process from planning stage to final production took up an entire year, in view of the delicateness of the cashmere wool yarn.

The line is segmented into three individual design ideologies – pure woven cashmere saris, ultra luxe hand painted saris in cashmere, and the world’s First ever Cashmere Lace saree.

Speaking about her collection, Tanira Sethi said,“I am believer in German industrial designer Dieter Rams’ philosophy of ‘as little design as possible’ and that is real luxury because you are following the basic tenets of design without tinkering with the aesthetics. For me, good design is usefulness, self-explanatory, unobtrusive and also a form of self-expression, which can be seen in my final product. But above all, my line, will hopefully never become antiquated and that will be real success for me”.

Founder of Patine Shon Randhawa said, “We celebrate artisanal crafts and revival of heritage embroideries and weaving traditions at PATINE.  For a while now, we have been keen to give a platform to support emerging designers who break boundaries and make these crafts relevant to modern women and their lifestyle. We are delighted to have Tanira Sethi, launch her exquisite & innovative collection of cashmere weaves at PATINE. She is passionate and dedicated at her craft and has pushed boundaries to create the first Cashmere Leavers Lace sarees.  We wish her every success and are confident that she will shine.
