The latest collection of sparklers from Zoya, the luxury diamond boutique from the House of Tata, is named after a location in the Central Hollywood neighborhood in Los Angeles, the “6299 Hollywood Blvd.” Inspired by the bygone eras of Hollywood, the collection of forty-three pieces of jewellery is crafted in gold and diamonds with the stones such as black diamonds, citrines, topaz, tanzanite, and yellow sapphires.
The collection is segmented into three parts, the swinging flappers of the 1920s, the bold rouge lips of the 1950s, and the glamourous red carpet imagery of the 2000s.
The “Roaring Twenties” line-up represents free spirited flapper girls, their boxy dresses, cloche hats and the bold zigzag forms, sweeping curves and chevron patterns in detachable twin necklaces, tassel earrings in diamonds and emeralds, which are reminiscent of the popular beaded necklaces of the time, while Anita Page’s iconic braided look has been captured in neck pieces and earrings of rubies.
“The Fabulous Fifties” era, with Hollywood style defined by rounded, soft shoulders, bold rouge lips, clinched waists, elaborate skirts, emphasizing the oomph of stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Marylyn Monroe. This segment echoes the era, with meticulously placed diamonds, emeralds and rubies in bracelets, neck pieces and earrings. An asymmetrical neck piece in black diamond’s is inspired by the era’s popular gingham prints, while rings and earrings inspired by the fashionable leading ladies.
The “Alluring Two Thousands” is about fashion of the red carpet and the glamorous assertiveness of extravagant gowns. Long chandelier earrings in yellow sapphire and pendants in blue sapphires, cuff bracelets in yellow citrines and beer quartz celebrate the undying legacy of the Hollywood fashion.
Zoya’s first launch collection titled ‘Krishna’ was unique, where each piece was a collector’s item. While this line is a fine showcase of craftsmanship that Zoya is making a mark with, we miss the same level of unique creativity.
Available at the Zoya boutiques in Mumbai and New Delhi.
