Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre has opened the first flagship store of her namesake label in the posh Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The spacious 4000 sqft store spans three floors, and is tastefully designed in retro-ethnic style. Water fountains, polished stone floors, antique furniture, spacious lounges, colourful corridors and wallsadorned with thikri mirror work or metal work, the Pichwai paintings and alcoves with arches, wallpaper with the elephant logo of the label, all compliment the display of her designs.
The store will house the entire range of products from the House of Anita Dongre label, which includes her bridal couture, menswear, Anita Dongre ready-to-wear lines, her recent sustainable and luxury pret label Anita Dongre Grass root, her handcrafted jadau fine jewellery brand, Pink City, as well as the silver jewellery collections.All products of Anita Dongre label are cruelty-free, and do not use leather or cashmere. The designer is a vegan activist and a member PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
Commenting on the new store, Anita Dongre said, “Every store is a labour of love but this one is particularly special. It is an ode to craftsmanship in a year that has been particularly hard on Indian craftspeople. I couldn’t think of a better city than Hyderabad with its rich craft culture to create this space in.”
