India –2nd Edition of L’Oréal Professional Indian Hairdressing Awards 2016-17

The  French hair care and cosmetics brand L’Oréal Professional has successfully conducted the second edition of Indian Hairdressing Awards, where top talent from across the country competed in a creative category of their choice: Colour Trophy, Cut & Style, Young Colourist and Men’s Image.With this all India competition, open to all hairdressers irrespective of their city or salon, L’Oréal Professionnel has created an excellent and exclusive platform for hairdressers to earn recognition for their art and creative talent at a national level.

We connected with Aseem Kaushik, Director, Professional Products Division, L’Oréal India at aseem-kaushikJ.W.Marriott, New Delhi Aerocity, the venue of the Delhi awards, to understand better the success story of the brand in becoming a lead player in its category. Kaushik, who has been with L’Oreal India for two decades, nearly since the brand entered the country, explained at length the strategy of the brand to connect with salons, who in turn introduced it to their clients. The buzz and enthusiasm visible at the Aerocity venue of the Delhi event was an indicator of the popularity and relevance of the Hairdressing Award. Kaushik also informed about L’Oréal’s dedicated R & I centers in Bangalore and Mumbai, and about how they train 200,000 hairdressers every year.

All of 33 teams competed during the IHA 2016-17 North Region Final recreating their hair look live before a panel of judges, represented by experts from the fashion and beauty industry. The eminent judge panel included prominent hairstylist Simon Koh, charismatic Editor, Cosmopolitan Magazine Nandini Bhalla, revered designer Namrata Joshipura, celebrated makeup artist Venus Pereira and ace fashion photographer Charudutt Chitrak.

The L’Oréal Professionnel Dream Team and ID Artists each showcased their creativity with the Dream Team’s ‘Nature Artistique’ and ‘All Doll’d Up’ – the debut performance by the ID Artists. The Dream Team is represented by some of the best hair artists in the industry today while the ID Artists are a group of dynamic young hair artists who would be the stars of tomorrow.

The curated hair looks were worn by the top models in the industry complete with avant-garde ensembles designed by renowned fashion designer Gavin Miguel. Each ensemble reflected Gavin’s signature style of detail and sophistication, setting the perfect tone for the grandeur evening. The show ended with the announcement of the winners of the IHA 2016-17 North Regional Finalists:
