India Art Fair opened its 12th edition in New Delhi, with a special preview held on Thursday 30 January 2020,welcoming galleries, collectors and artists from across South Asia and beyond. Back at its earlier location at NSIC Exhibition Grounds, Okhla, the show dates are 31 January – 2 February, 2020.

With 81 exhibitors spanning 20 different global cities, 14 in India, within a tent façade designed by Indian artist Sameer Kulavoor, the India Art Fair is the leading platform to discover Modern and Contemporary art from South Asia, offering a unique access point to the region’s thriving cultural scene. There are several programs expanded with live performances and events, an extended bookshop, new sector for Artists in Residence and diverse talks positioning artists at its core

Taking place annually in India’s capital, New Delhi, the fair reflects the city’s fast-developing local arts scene, while offering curated insights into the cultural landscapes of neighbouring countries. The fair’s programme – which draws together galleries and artists, private foundations and arts charities, artists’ collectives, national institutions, cultural events and festivals – enables international audiences to engage in innovative ways with the cultural history and development of the region. Jagdip Jagpal, Fair Director of India Art Fair, commented: “India Art Fair has grown extraordinarily in its last 12 years, building on gallery participation, public programming and creating a spotlight on South Asian and Indian art. In the last two years we have looked to strengthen the programme to highlight the artists, as well as make a visit to the fair accessible for all ages and abilities. Modern and contemporary South Asian art remains the focus of the fair, with 70% of the floor space dedicated to Indian galleries, and an esteemed line up of artists not seen in India presented by international galleries.”

The fair is committed to supporting arts education and professional development opportunities, recognising the crucial need to support the development of the local arts scene, and provide dedicated exhibition space to emerging galleries and arts organisations. The fair aims to run an extensive programme of events, including education initiatives, artist commissions and pop-up programmes, aiming to increase audiences for the arts within India.

India Art Fair is owned by Angus Montgomery Arts, a division of Angus Montgomery Ltd.
