The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore was honored to host the momentous launch of Sudha Murty’s 300th literary work, ‘Grandpa’s Bag of Stories’. The event was a significant milestone in Mrs. Murty’s illustrious career, reflecting her dedication to storytelling and philanthropy. A heartwarming conversation between Sudha Murty and actor, author, and storyteller Twinkle Khanna, gave the audience a glimpse into the profound stories and experiences that have shaped her remarkable career.

Literature enthusiasts, fans, and notable guests came together to celebrate Sudha Murty’s enduring legacy in the world of storytelling. The launch, hosted by Lit Spirit Foundation, was graciously supported by The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore.

During a conversation with Khanna, Mrs Murthy, who is lovingly called “Ajji” shared that to celebrate her prestigious literary career spanning 44 years, she decided to switch things up for her latest book and narrate the story from a grandfather’s perspective. Her body of work, compassing 300 titles across multiple languages and genres, has been instrumental in promoting Indian literature in English, captivating readers of all ages.

Her collection of short stories, mythology books and short format illustrated chapter books have been instrumental in igniting a culture of reading Indian literature in English. In her latest offering, Grandpa’s Bag of Stories, she once again weaves magic with a collection of timeless tales set in the beautiful hills of Uttarakhand.

Reflecting on her journey, Sudha Murty shared, ‘Writing has always been my passion, a way to kindle connections and share the wisdom and warmth I’ve gathered over the years. Through words, I’ve found a sense of purpose and belonging, a way to transcend time and touch hearts. I express my deepest gratitude to my mother, Shrimati Vimala Kulkarni, who nurtured my passion for writing from a young age, and to my grandfather, H. R. Kadim Diwan, whose guidance as a teacher expanded my imagination. “
