Gucci Cosmos – Shanghai
As a traveling exhibition, Gucci Cosmos transports the heritage and craftsmanship of the House around the world, opening the doors to the Gucci Archive in Florence and highlighting how storied pieces and emblems have woven their way throughout time. Just as the other stops spotlighted their contextual cities, this stop will also feature dedicated narratives and elements echoing Kyoto’s and Japan’s own history of vibrant tradition and innovation.

Gucci Cosmos – Shanghai
Florence, Italy, Gucci’s founding city, has had a sister city relationship with Kyoto since 1965. In 2021, as a part of the House’s centennial celebrations, Gucci held a project titled “GUCCI IN KYOTO“, including exhibitions at Kiyomizudera Temple, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, at town houses in the center of Kyoto, and at the historic Ninna-ji Temple built in the 9th century. Through these projects, Gucci has been paying homage to Kyoto, a city where tradition and innovation coexist in various ways. Deepening this link, Kyoto is the now the host of Gucci Cosmos in Japan.

Gucci Cosmos – Shanghai
A collaboration process between British artist Es Devlin, who designed the previous exhibitions, and Italian fashion curator Maria Luisa Frisa, Gucci Cosmos showcases the multifaceted history of the House, spotlighting its unwavering principles since its founding in 1921, and tracing its ever-renewed inspirations and creativity. It explores how for over a century Gucci’s abiding codes and spirit have been brought to life through its most iconic designs, and how these era-defining pieces have forever inspired and been reinterpreted by the House’s visionaries.
