Delicate blown glass bubbles in pink, sparkling Swarovski crystals, dazzling gold metallic inputs, danglers, bright lights, drama – this here was the new ‘hot’ wedding ‘Mandapam’. Reminiscent of a giant chandelier, the ‘Mandapam’, designed by Klove and encrusted with Swarovski crystals, was unveiled at DLF Emporio’s Treasury of Trousseau on 28th July, 2015. This marks the beginning of a new development in bespoke weddings with the creative integration of design, innovation & heritage.

The colossal installation has over 44,000 Swarovski crystals with brass laser cut panels and Klove’s signature form of expression of blown glass to create a 16 feet in diameter and 18 feet high ‘Mandapam’. For the uninitiated, a Mandapam or the wedding canopy is the focal point of energy in every Hindu wedding ceremony. An altar supported by pillars, it is within this revered edifice that the auspicious wedding ceremony takes place by the sacred fire. Swarovski, the Austrian premium crystal manufacturer, has collaborated with the enterprising designer duoGautam Seth & Prateek Jain of Klove Studio to create this magnificent Mandapam. Giving it a contemporary yet traditional appeal, klove has artistically incorporated Swarovski crystal pendeloques, beads, octagons, pear drops, flat backs and strands in a variety of traditional colors including Bordeaux and Blue violet. Once dismantled, the Mandapam can be transformed into six different lighting installations making it versatile to use for different occasions.

While interacting with Neelima Agrawal of The Luxury Chronicle, Prateek Jain said that the ‘Mandapam’ installation was going to travel to other cities in India, and will subsequently travel to ten countries.

Excited about this creative installation, Gautam Seth & Prateek Jain said,‘Mandapam installation is a landmark project for us. We have for the second time collaborated with Swarovski. Our association with Swarovski goes way back when the brand celebrated its 10 years in India and now on our 10th year we have come together for a groundbreaking project. This work is the largest piece we have ever done and it’s a new arena of sorts that we are exploring. A lot of thought, hard work and love has gone into making the Mandapam. It’s been our dream to create a structure of this scale and detail, which perfectly reflects our design aesthetic and represents our roots. And as always there is no other space in the country which can compliment and gives the right ambience to the Mandapam like DLF Emporio – which is like second home to Klove.”

In recent years Swarovski crystals have become more and more popular with luxury weddings all over the globe and is taking successive steps to establish themselves as a key contributor to the Indian luxury wedding industry. Speaking on this, Vivek Ramabhadran, Managing Director, Swarovski Professionals in India said, Ever since we entered the luxury wedding space in decor, our endeavor is to push the boundaries of design and uniqueness, which Swarovski crystal brings. Today, we have partnered with Klove, with an objective to bring out a new interpretation on the use of Swarovski crystals as a design element, to celebrate the wedding occasion with a structure of magnificence, overwhelming impact. Klove, known for its mastery on blown glass, has explored the interaction of the two mediums (blown glass and Swarovski crystal) most innovatively to create this wonderful imposing structure.”
