The Italians have always been known for their impeccable sartorial style. This autumn will witness the coming together of two luxury giants of the Italian fashion and automobile universe, Ermenegildo Zegna and Maserati, for creating a limited edition collection of just one hundred Maserati Quattroporte sedans. The already high-on-testosterone Maserati will appear with an enhanced patina of suave, with stylish tailoring and design additions by the house of Zegna. Clearly, the customers are only those with the most refined taste.

Leaving the specifics of power and transmission aside for a moment, it would be apt to focus on the definitive look that distinguishes this particular car from the others in its class – the subtle changes in the exterior and the leading interior design. This limited edition boasts a special finish in terms of colour, materials and trim, carefully chosen to embody personality, quality and exclusivity. The exterior – finished in a radiant Platinum Silk tone, sleek, a unique paint finish that blends black and fine aluminium pigments. But the real magic starts when one opens the Quattroporte, which quite literally means “four doors”. The interiors are classic Zegna. Warm, soft Mocha colours – ‘a modern Tiesta di Moro dark brown and Greige; a delicate fusion of light grey and sabbia’. Formal, sophisticated; a blend of supple leather adorns the seats, all in all, it is a pretty comprehensive reproduction of the Zegna menswear collection. As a gentle yet strong reminder, the front sunshades carry a plaque stating “Ermenegildo Zegna exclusively for Maserati”.

As if this was not enough, this epitome of refined understated elegance comes with a special 19 piece ‘capsule collection’ of monogrammed Zegna accessories such as a leather weekend bag, sunglasses and a silk scarf in the same chevron motif as the interior trim, as well as a bolt of fabric, footwear and outwear products inspired by the limited edition Quattroporte. A sampling of Zegna’s craftsmanship.

Finally, we come down to what the few lucky owners of this limited edition car will be driving – supplied with a 3.8 VTS V8 engine with a capacity of 3798 cc, the car boasts a horse power rating of 523 bhp (390 kw), an enviable pickup of 0-60 mph in four seconds, and a top speed of 195mph. “Both brands have been able to combine the tailored attention to details with cutting-edge technology leading to the creation of a new world icon of style and elegance.” says Gildo Zegna of the Quattroporte. So for those who have $175,000 to spare and are looking for an investment worth the money and stature they keep, this limited edition icon seems to be a worthy one. With a bit of hurry and alacrity, you might just be able to get your hands on one of the hundred only models.
