The Swiss watch and jewellery brand Piaget unveiled its latest collection, ‘A Mythical Journey by Piaget’ at The Lodhi, New Delhi over dinner and cocktails. The list of invitees included the Swiss Ambassador to India, His Excellency Mr. Philippe Welti and Pallam Raju Cabinet Minister of India for Human Resources Development.

As the name suggests, the collection ‘A Mythical Journey by Piaget’, of thirty two watch models, is inspired by the travel through the landscapes, the culture and heritage of the Asian Region, from China’s ancient history to the very majestic India.

The watches are works of art, crafted with precision like pieces of jewellery, and embellished with micro mosaic, embroidery, bullino engraving, and enamel rub elbows along with sixteen pieces of jewellery created from exceptional stones including emerald and sapphire spheres, facetted sapphires and emeralds, and facetted pink sapphires set in pink gold. Representing a world of the colours of nature, the historic architecture, fauna and flora, Asian pagodas, plum blossom, Ferghana horses, Cranes- from the exciting roads of Chang’an and the Indian palaces, Elephants and Peacocks from shimmering India. One of these Piaget watches offers its interpretation of the famous Lake Palace, on Lake Pichola in Udaipur using an unusual combination of gold leaf and champlevé enamel on the dial.

An elephant adorns a Piaget Polo Tourbillon Relatif, Piaget Emperador, and Piaget Altiplano using the “Bullino” engraving technique developed by Italian engravers, which creates fine lines that can only be made under a microscope. A variation of the cloisonné enamel technique, plique-à-jour enamelling, was used to create a stunning peacock with bejewelled green feathers and an indigo blue breast that decorates the Piaget Altiplano Double Jeu.

A stylish logo inspired by old maps and compass will be present on all of the watches from the collection.

Fine craftsmanship and creativity are in the Piaget genes. In its Manufacturing facility just outside Geneva, about forty watch-making and jewellery crafts supplement the movement-manufacturing activity at La Côte-aux-Fées. The designers’ imagination is translated into masterpieces thanks to resident expertise in the age-old arts of engraving, guillochage, gem-setting, and marquetry done in precious stones.

The master craftsmen reveal the motions that have been handed down from time immemorial, with the modesty of those who make excellence a daily practice. Nothing is more extraordinary than the passion that motivates these men. Artisans, watchmakers, artists and master craftsmen jointly place their signature on what is one of Piaget’s most dazzling collections.

This latest collection of Piaget watches will be available in its stores in India.
