prada-menswearThe world is becoming a better place with more and more leading brands accepting a cruelty free approach. The Prada Group has announced that it will no longer use animal fur for its products starting with its spring-summer 2020 women’s collection. Better late than never! Other prominent luxury brands that have pledged to shun fur are Armani in 2016, Burberry, Gucci, Versace, and baby brand Chicco, as well as Michael Kors since 2017. Miuccia Prada, Chief designer and Head of Prada,is reported to have said, “Focusing on innovative materials will allow the company to explore new boundaries of creative design, while meeting the demand for ethical products.” The fur items of the other Prada brands like shoemaker Car, Church & Co, MiuMiu, will be discontinued after the existing inventory is exhausted.

Prada has collaborated with the Fur Free Alliance (FFA) for this initiative. FFA is an international coalition of more than 40 animal protection organizations working together to end the exploitation and killing of animals for fur.
