India – 3rd Edition of India Craft Week 2021 to be held from 18-21 February

india craft weekIt is heartening that the impediment of the pandemic has not deterred the organisers of the India Craft Week from going ahead with their third edition in a sustainable format. The event will be held both virtually and with on-ground showcase across Delhi NCR, from February 18-21, 2021. The agenda of the event is to besustainably promoting, educating, supporting and paying tribute to exceptional craftsmanship, rare craft, brands, luxury, art  & culture among a wide audience both Indian & International.

The various programmes will be held as follows.

  1. Closed Door Conversations
  2. Parallel events across well-known Luxury Retail, Institutions, Embassies, Luxury Hospitality Spaces, Galleries & Museums.
  3. International Touring exhibitions showcasing National Award winning Indian Artisans at London Craft Week.
  4. Research, Educational Programmes and Virtual Discussions that seek to encourage cross-cultural dialogue about Craft, Art and cultural practice.
  5. Active engagement with master artisans, the finest makers, brands, curators, educators and audiences in India.
  6. Develop networks of collaboration with museums, curators, cultural institutions and artists in regions with expertise and history of craft.

iti tyagiThe India Craft Week is founded by the dynamic Iti Tayagi, who has over 2 decades of experience in spearheading craft clusters for sustainable development, and promoting rare crafts locally and globally. Her initiative helps elevate both the craft and the crafts person. In 2015, she started Craft Village, an organisation based out of New Delhi, India that laid the foundation of International/World Craft Day, International Craft Awards and India Craft Week.

With India Craft Week, she has built an outstanding rare collection of over 100 Padma Shri, National & International award winning artisans. She is the recipient of many awards, including the Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India.

India Craft Week has done seminal work in gaining unique local and regional recognition for India’s Craftsmen whose legacies are becoming lost to time and apathy in the absence of sufficient viewers, collectors, promoters, curators or scholars.

Ranging across practices and tracking the changes over several years in response to constant innovation and experimentation, India Craft Week’s activities include curatorial exercises, publishing and film making programmes, craft appreciation masterclasses and educational initiatives, linking the financial and corporate sectors by way of talks, relationship building with institutions and craft week’s around the world. The event showcases the outstanding and prestigious works of the finest Padma Shri & National Award winning Artisans, lifting them out of recent oblivion to get them their due appreciation while aligning them with the finest institutions, brands. It is equated with the London Craft Week, the event is supported by World Craft Council-APR, GMR, JW Marriott, British Council, Dalmia Bharat, Aditya Birla group, ICCR and such leading organisations.
