Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes’ 36th edition – Pershing 62’

3 mins read

The 36th edition of the Festival de la Plaisance de cannes – the Cannes Boat Show, rated as Europe’s leading in-water yacht event, took place on the glittering Bay of Cannes, across the vieux Port and the Port Pierre canto from 10-15th September, 2013. The event elicits a huge response and nearly 550 boats, built by the leading shipyards were on display.

Creating a buzz was Ferretti Group’s Pershing brand, a leading international manufacturer of high performance open motor yachts ranging from 15 to 35 metres, which put its latest model, Pershing 62’, a unique fast and elegant mega yacht, on early international display. Riding on the success of the earlier versions, Pershing 56’ and Pershing 58’, the new Pershing 62’ was the result of the collaboration among the Comitato Strategico di Prodotto and the Marketing Department of the Group, together with Ferrettigroup Engineering’s team of engineers and architects, who are among the most competent worldwide in naval design, the AYTD – Advanced Yacht Technology & Design, the research center of the Group and the yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni. In keeping with the brand’s DNA, the new Pershing 62’ combines functionality, security and complete comfort, ensuring the user an excellent time at sea.

The hull line and superstructure are designed to give the boat a streamlined profile, with an aggressive and sporty spirit, and adds extra light to the full beam owner’s suite amidships. The first Pershing 62’ unit was manufactured with a standard layout, including three cabins – the Owner’s suite, a VIP and guest cabin at the bow, and three bathrooms with separate showers. The alternative version, which is already being built on the second model, has two cabins, the owner’s suite and a VIP cabin, while the guest cabin is replaced by a living room. Both versions have a crew cabin which can be reached from the cockpit, with a single bed and integrated bathroom.

EXTERNAL SPACES

On board, the stern area, a functional launching and storage system for the tender has been installed on Pershing 62’, which is available only on the large models of the brand: a mobile and foldable platform in the central part of the beach allows quick and simplified handling of the tender in the garage, using a winch rather than cranes to lower it into water. The cockpit has a large central sundeck, with an extendable teak table, a sofa and a mobile bar starboard, which includes a sink. Option of having a grill and an ice-maker are available. The bow has a large sun-bed. Upon request, a bimini can be installed as a sunshade. The front windshield is a3.7 m wide single piece made of laminate.

MAIN DECK

The main saloon can be reached from the cockpit through a sliding door, part of large retractable window supplied by Besenzioni. This important feature on most Pershing models combines the cockpit to the saloon, creating a wide open space for the guests.

The entire environment exploits natural lighting, in lieu of wide lateral windows with original and rounded geometrical shapes. Of great interest, within the saloon, is the extremely technological and innovative pilot house that is anthracite in colour and furnished with a couple of Poltrona Frau brand pilot seats. Along the wall at starboard is a long unit having a 42 litre refrigerator, the audio-video systems and a retractable 32” television screen. Also included are grey oak parquet flooring; quartz grey color lacquered and polished walls and the furniture, with matching doors made of ebony with veins. The dining table is also made of ebony.

LOWER DECK

A central staircase, left to the pilot house, leads to the lower deck. Along the port-side wall there is the galley, at starboard is the guest cabin with a bathroom. The galley on the first floor is optional, and closed by a frosted glass wall. The cabin, as the rest of the interior decor, was carefully studied by the Ferretti Group team of architects and designers with the aim of creating original furniture, which has similar nuances but varies when it comes to tactile and visual perceptions, thanks to a studied play of contrasts of light and dark tones, polished and opaque materials, smooth and corrugated – in particular.

Further down towards the stern is the Owner’s area, a full-beam suite illuminated by a double hull glazing which offers a panoramic view at sea level. On the wall is a 22’’ LCD TV and an optional 42 litre refrigerator.

The new model is available with two engine versions: a double MTU 10V 2000 M84 with a power of 1381 mhp, or two MTUs – present on this first unit – 10V 2000 M93, with a power of 1524 mhp. With the larger option, the Pershing 62’ reaches a top speed of 46.5 knots and a cruising speed of 42. The standard version of the Pershing 62’ is equipped with Searex surface propellers. It is also possible to install an Autotrim system.
