Tangalle, Sri Lanka

The Maldives based international hospitality company Atmosphere Core has announced its foray into the Sri Lankan market with AMAGI SECRET by Atmosphere Tangalle, a boutique resort set to open in the final quarter of 2026. The project, developed in partnership with Amagi Group, marks the company’s first venture in Sri Lanka and a strategic step in its regional growth plan across South Asia.

The resort will operate under the award-winning Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand, which has a strong presence in the Maldives and is expanding across India and Italy. “With our expansion across India, the Maldives, and Italy, and now this important step into Sri Lanka, we are placing thoughtfully curated, distinctive landscapes on the global tourism map,” said Salil Panigrahi, Co-founder and Managing Director of Atmosphere Core.

Situated on 11 acres near the southern coastline of Tangalle, AMAGI SECRET will feature 33 private pool villas, including lake-view and family configurations. The resort will also introduce the brand’s ELE│NA Ayur Spa and Wellness Centre, alongside multiple dining venues focused on Sri Lankan cuisine and local produce.

For Amagi Group, best known for its interests in seafood exports and hospitality, the partnership represents a diversification move aligned with Sri Lanka’s tourism revival. “Partnering with Atmosphere allows us to build a property that integrates sustainability, culture, and community with international standards of luxury,” said S. Ganeshanathan, Chairman of Amagi Group.

The announcement comes as Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to recover following a series of policy reforms and renewed global interest in the island as an experiential travel destination. International arrivals have shown steady growth in 2025, supported by simplified visa regulations and investment in tourism infrastructure.

With AMAGI SECRET by Atmosphere Tangalle, Atmosphere Core strengthens its presence in the Indian Ocean region, positioning itself to tap into rising demand for experiential and wellness-focused travel. The company’s entry into Sri Lanka underscores growing investor confidence in the island’s tourism potential and highlights a broader trend of regional hospitality diversification among Indian Ocean brands.
