India – New Improved Rooftop Bar AER reopens at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai

3 mins read

The iconic rooftop bar AER at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai is back in a brand-new avatar after a year of renovations and a total overhaul of its interiors and menu. With an unhindered view of South Mumbai skyline and the Arabian Sea, the all-new AER is now posturing as the setting of a yacht club, albeit located on the 34th floor. Architect Phillip Pond has reimagined the space into a contemporary bar with a nautical undertone.

Besides the interiors, the Very Important Person in AER is their new mixologist come Beverage Manager, the renowned Alexandre Renoue, also known as Alex. He has ensured that the new offering honours majestic maritime traditions with its delicacies and libations.

The Corsica-born  Alexandre Renoue also leads the beverage programme across the hotel’s bars as well as at its new, exclusive club Modernist and dining outlets like San:Qi. He said, “It is an honour to be here in Mumbai at Four Seasons as I’ve always believed that with passion and dedication, a person can reach for the sky. There is no better spot to do this than at the city’s most iconic rooftop bar, AER.”

As an ode to its nautical ethos, the beverage menu unfolds as a sensory voyage through the changing patterns of the weather. Some categories on the drinks menu read CLEAR SKIES for artistic blends, CUMULUS for a curated collection of sour cocktails, MONSOON is tall carbonated beverages and THUNDERHEADS for the bolder spirit. Celestial Sommelier’s Collection is hand-picked assortment of wines, while Mariner’s Brew Voyage offers a selection of beers as diverse as the seven seas. There’s more.

For those who must know all before visiting, here are some hints about the interiors – polychromatic nautical stripes in the passage way,  central bar setting, wicker floor lamps, stone panelling, a retractable Wimbledon-style rain roof etc. Better to visit and find out the rest yourself.

General Manager Sunil Narang said, “Everyone who visits us asks about AER, it is the most eagerly anticipated opening for guests of the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. The hotel’s commitment to providing guests with innovative and personalised experiences sets it apart and with AER we look forward to scripting a new chapter in the legacy of this cocktail capital that we call home.”

AER is open seven days a week from 5:30 pm to 1:30 am. Tables will be available on reservation only in three seatings from 5:00 pm to 7:15 pm; 7:30 pm to 09:45 pm; and 10:00 pm onwards.
