In a first of its kind deal, the Italian luxury men’s wear group Ermenegildo Zegna and Reliance Brands have jointly picked stakes in the men’s wear fashion designer Raghavendra Rathore label. The move will give the desired impetus to the domestic brands to scale up and grow beyond the borders. The exact amount invested has not yet been disclosed by either of the parties involved.
Designer Raghavendra Rathore currently has seven standalone stores across the country. The brand bears the legacy of Rajasthan, and its famous Jodhpuri Bandh galas are popular wedding essential. Zegna is part of the Raliance Brands and is retailed through three of their stores across India.
Reliance Brands, subsidiary of Reliance Industries, also sells other luxury labels such as Bally and Brooks Brothers in India, besides Ermengildo Zegna. Reports in the media earlier this year in April, said that Reliance Brands has reached out to designers for possible investments. Raghavendra Rathore and Rajesh Pratap Singh were two among the others.
