In a video-recorded message, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani has addressed the fashion fraternity, along with all its stakeholders and supporters. She has lauded the initiative taken by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) last month, in setting up a COVID-19 Support Fund (CSF by FDCI) to provide financial assistance to small businesses and young designers in need.

The pandemic, which saw the cancellation of many major events across the world, including FDCI’s India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2020, has affected the earnings and livelihood of the many tailors, craftsmen, weavers, embroiderers, designers. In such a scenario, FDCI, headed by Sunil Sethi, took the lead to set up a COVID-19 Support Fund (CSF by FDCI) to provide financial assistance to small businesses and young designers in need. An eminent designer member of the industry has pledged support to this cause. The Council, the Board and Sunil Sethi have contributed towards this. The Mumbai based Lakme Fashion Week has also joined hands in this effort, to jointly tide through this tough phase.
