Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota, entered the seas in Boca Raton a few weeks ago, where it premiered the launch of its flagship luxury yacht, the LY 650. This ocean-capable 65-ft sports yacht will appear at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 30 -November 3, 2019.
For its fly bridge cruiser LY 650, Lexus collaborated with Italian yacht design studio Novolari Lenard and Marquis Yachts in Pulaski, Wisconsin, and brought in the Takumi skill that are a part of the legendry Toyota Production System. A light and rigid composite hull was jointly developed with Marquis Yachts LLC. Carbon fiber composite materials have been used in the construction to keep the weight low, and yet attain high strength. The LY 650 can touch 31.4 knots.
Designed like a sports yacht, the exterior has a pronounced bow and coupe-like roof line, with metallic accents and an optional two-tone color scheme.The Takumi craftsmanship is visible in its interiors, right from the custom-finished wood trim to hand-sewn seat surfaces. Three berths below deck each have more than 6 feet of headroom and a private bath with shower.
The LY 650 is driven by twin Volvo Penta IPS engines. The unique underwater hull shape offers high output and low fuel consumption.
